Toby was someone I looked up to when I was coming up as a guitarist in London. I was very much unaware of the depths of difficulty he was going through. I’ve known an alarming amount of young men who have taken their own lives and have given a lot of thought as to what we can do as a society to try and prevent this. I have struggled with my own mental health in the past and the communal, internally reflective and purpose giving sides of music have been massively helpful. This paired with regular counselling definitely lays a healthy path to having a more positive view of oneself and your life situation.
I also believe through encouraging men to engage in more emotional work it will help to create a safer world for women.
I really think the work Seed Sessions are doing is incredibly important and hope we can get to a point where services like this are more widely available.
